On Wednesday, March 15th I had the pleasure and the honour of meeting the Bachelor of Music Education students. I presented them with a three hour lecture and workshop on teaching children how to play the guitar featuring the Copy, Play and Learn Guitar and Musical Futures methods. I’d like to send a big thank you to Kay Hartwig for organising this and the students themselves for being so receptive and laughing at my jokes.
On another matter, Copy, Play and Learn Guitar has worked out a great deal where you can buy hard copies of the book for almost the same price as the electronic version. If you’d like to earn a little extra money by selling these books to your students, please follow the link to this page. https://howtolearnguitar.com.au/make/ Be rewarded for your hard work and enthusiasm. Why not?!
Some of you may be aware that I created and run the Gold Coast Kids’ Guitar Club. This is a Club set up initially for children in the 6-9 year age bracket though as the children have grown and stayed with the club, some are now 13 years of age.
I’d like to encourage those of you who are interested in teaching guitar to the very young to start up your own groups. I charge the parents of the children $19 per hour to attend and have 6-7 in each class. Parents love it because it represents a massive saving on tuition costs and often they become involved themselves. Children love it because it is social, they develop friendships and it’s way more fun than having private lessons. I love it because I see the kids having fun and it enables me to earn a higher hourly rate than teaching privately.
